Minecraft’s big cross-platform update is here

Image
Minecraft ’s Better Together update, which brings cross-platform play to the game for the first time, is now available on numerous devices — although players outside the Microsoft, Apple and Google ecosystems will have to wait. Microsoft and developer Mojang released the Better Together update today on mobile devices, virtual reality headsets, Windows 10 and Xbox One. On those platforms, where the game runs on Mojang’s Bedrock Engine, it is now known simply as Minecraft — no colon, no “Pocket Edition” or anything. “Our general rule of thumb is that if a version can play together with the others, it’s called Minecraft,” Mojang said in an FAQ for the Better Together update. Versions of Minecraftthat do not support cross-platform play, such as its original Java-based Mac/PC release and its Wii U version, will retain their “Edition” subtitles. For now, that will continue to apply to Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition. The Better Together update is coming to Switch, but it’s not

Journey Devs Announce Sky, A Timed iOS Exclusive

Image
Described as a game about "giving", the makers of Journey and Flower unveiled their latest game at the iPhone 8/X reveal. A multi-platform game that's launching on iOS first, Sky is pitched as a multiplayer "social adventure" game, where players fly above the clouds. It seems pretty straightforward. On the site, however, thatgamecompany says Sky is "hard to explain". "If you can imagine the delight of visiting a theme park where lasting memories are made, we envision Sky will sometimes feel like that," they wrote. To explain things a little better, thatgamecompany's Jenova Chen filmed a brief Q&A with Geoff Keighley. In that, he mentioned that "true happiness comes from a person who is genuinely wanting to help others", probably a good indication of what to expect. Sky is due out on iOS later this year.

Tera M Developers Netmarble talk Launch Schedule, Game Mechanics

Originally broken by MMO Culture a while back, Tera M's developers have held a media showcase event in which they talked release schedule, and focused in on some gameplay mechanics. It is uncertain of minimum specifications have been announced, but all of the latest smartphones should be able to run Tera M without a hitch, as well as tablets and emulators. Additionally, a global launch is planned for 2018, with a strong chance of regional servers, rather than a global, unified one.

Image
Players have been teased in Fate/Grand Order NA . No, not by promises of high-level servants. Not by promises of their favorite waifus. No - by the promise of Okeanos. The Third Singularity, and the fourth part of the Fate/Grand Order story - if you count the Prologue as the first part. Which, considering it's mandatory, it might as well be! A pretty strong indicator that Okeanos is coming sometime during September 22nd is the fact that we have a double whammy of two events coming up! First off is the "Free Quest AP Cost 1/2 Campaign!" During this period, all Free Quests - quests available after you clear the story quest in a particular area - will have their costs slashed by 50%. There is a reason to do Free Quests - the first time you clear them, they give valuable Saint Quartz, which is used to get high-level Servants! If Okeanos is approaching, you'd definitely want to clear out the old Free Quests you may have previously ignored. On top of that.... U
